The WOWMart at the Kranzberg Arts Foundation

The Kranzberg Arts Foundation has opened a new location, near Sophie’s Artist Lounge - the WOWMart! (WOW = Walls Off Washington)

At the convenience store in the front of the location, visitors can purchase snacks, artwork, tickets for Kranzberg Arts events, and other small items. Through a hallway to the back, visitors can make their way to the Walls Off Washington project, a collection of murals in the back alley area of the building.

This hallway was in need of art-ification, so that visitors knew they were not only allowed but encouraged to venture down it!

After consulting with the Kranzberg Arts Foundation about their needs, I designed this reflective and multi-colored light installation for the hallway. Infinity mirrors open the space up and add visual interest, and dichroic panels in corners with lighting behind them provide an interesting glistening point. Addressable LED strips coordinate with DMX-controlled light bulbs that are mounted overhead. The light patterns are constantly animated, and change scenes every minute and a half.

DMX programming handled using Madmapper, and playback enabled by Advatek PixLite Controller. Installed November of 2024.
